Il Mercato delle Gaite affonda le sue radici nell`antica suddivisione di Bevagna in four districts named Gaite on which rested the `administrative and commercial city in medieval times. The purpose of the event is to reconstruct with great historical and philological grip the daily lives of residents in the period between Bevagna 1250 and 1350. Starting from 1983 a group of scholars began to analyze thoroughly the Statute of the city of sixteenth Bevagna, from which it derives the necessary information to the historical reconstruction of political life, administrative, economic and social. For ten days, then, at the end of June Bevagna makes a splash in the remote past: the antique shops of the medieval crafts reopen their doors and take over the activities and the streets are populated in Bevan's vintage clothing d `living the everyday life of their ancestors eating, working, playing just like them. Today, as then, the city is divided into four gaite, but now rivaling each other in an attempt to give a historically faithful interpretation of the role it plays in the Middle Ages. The spirit of competition is the basis of the animated show takes the form of participation in four races: competition in the market, race of the trades, gastronomic competition, sports competition shooting with the arc. With a complex points system, assigned by professors and experts in different fields asked to judge the likelihood historical, the last day of the event, the winner receiving the prize of victory as a gift. The strong sense of belonging to their gaita makes competition very interesting and stimulating continuous improvement of the proposals in the various sectors of gaite obvious advantage of the overall quality of the event. The Market of the Gaite is now counted among the most important historical events of `Umbria and is part of the Regional Association of Historical Events.
