Embedded in the rock on the extreme southern slope of Mount Subasio, Spello (m.280) is a gem of the Valle Umbra and keeps almost unchanged the defense walls and `urban fabric. The particular charm of the town is born from the wise harmony with which the `medieval building system was able to absorb and reuse the remains of Roman`, walls Augustan access doors. The design of the city is simple and rational, and is based on the straight line from the Port to Port Consular Entries Arce, to the core where live beautifully drawn Roman, Lombard and early medieval.

Its particular shape has a rising urban, sometimes inconvenient for tourists or visitors with disabilities, it is strongly suggested the presence of a companion.
