Once called Port of the Cross is the only one left of the `old doors that the city contornavano, and part of the ancient city walls are visible in the neighborhood. In the Middle Ages the entrance gates to the city were five: Roman Gate, Ancona Port, Port Florence, Todi Porta and Porta della Croce. Legend has it that from now passed San Feliciano, patron of the city, direct in chains to Rome in 251. The door was closed in the eighteenth century and transformed into a `sacred shrine which contained the image of a saint. It was presumably restored to its original appearance in 1920, in the same year in which the walls were demolished immediately adjacent.
