The so-called “Palace of the Lodges” is a Renaissance building carried out between 1517 and 1520 on the basis of Nicolo Cantagalli design on pre-existing structures site.
Up to 1860 The hospital consists of Foligno, dedicated to San Giovanni Battista della Pietà or of the Sick. Inside the building was a church, now extinct, from which two frescoes of Pierantonio Mezzastris were detached, Madonna and Angels and San Girolamo Cardinal and St. Jerome penitent, today in the City Museum.
The building was renovated in 1873-4 by Antonio Felice Poppi, which has left almost unchanged the monumental original facade. L'building, which over time it was used as a School of Arts and Crafts, Elementary School, Post and Telegraph Office and cinema, Today it is home to municipal offices and shops, after being destroyed in one part to allow construction of the new office of Posts and Telegraphs. Famous is its porch of eleven arches, commonly called the lodges.
In the lobby you can see the bust of the architect Giuseppe Piermarini.
