The new parish, inaugurated 26 April 2009, is close to the new hospital in the city because of Roccolo, in the area that hosted one of the camps organized in containers Foligno after the earthquake in September 1997. The project, designed by the architectural studio of Massimiliano Fuksas, is found in 2001 winner of the national competition organized by the Italian Episcopal Conference (IEC). The adjudicators of the competition for the new structure recognized the value of "strong mark and innovative", that meets the most advanced international research, to be conceived as a symbol of the rebirth of the city after the earthquake. And by Studio Fuksas explain: "The massive architecture of the new structure is a response to the disintegration of the earthquake". The new complex consists of three elements: a main body to house the church, a secondary one to house the Sacristy, the premises of the Pastoral Ministry and Casa Canonica and a third element, combining these two, which hosts the weekday chapel. The structure in which one finds the church is made up of two parallelepipeds inserted one into the high and almost 26 meters, a concrete monolith of pure geometry, a sort of "box within a box". Elements in the shape of a truncated pyramid connecting the two parallelepipeds creating a series of openings between the two walls, which, different from one another, presenting a series of slits on their surfaces, thus leaving penetrate inside rays of light directed towards the main elements of the classroom: The Altar, the ambo and the Font. Architecture massive external volume contrasts with the lightness of the cube suspended inside. In the words of the same Fuksas: "The suspension of a volume within another. Seeing through concrete heaven, outside, within, outside ". The entrance to the Church is a kind of catwalk, one please, a horizontal cut on one side of the parallelepiped outer, a contact with the interior also symbolic. Next to the church there is another box, lowest and elongated, where they are placed in the Sacristy, the premises of the Pastoral Ministry and Casa Canonica. A third structure connects the church with the building services, the weekday chapel. In addition to the design work of Studio Fuksas, have contributed to the construction of the new church the two artists Enzo Cucchi and Mimmo Paladino. Cucchi is the author of the monumental "Stele - Cross", outside the church: a concrete sculpture and white Carrara marble high 13,5 meters. Paladino has worked, instead, the representation of the Cross. Vestments, benches and lighting were designed by Fuksas Design.
