This is the library of the seminary of
Foligno, one of the oldest libraries in Umbria. It was founded in 1662 Thanks to the scholar and historian
Foligno, which it is entitled, Ludwig Jacobilli (1598-1664), who made a gift to the seminary (institution founded in 1649) of his private library. It dates back to 1654 l '"Inventory of books of me Jacobilli Louis", which has resulted in 7.560 works and manuscripts. The previous year had enriched Jacobilli your collection thanks to the donation of the heirs of the historical During Dorio.
Square Niccolini, it was in the house of Jacobilli, The library moved, then, the Episcopal seminary, near the Canapés. Having been sold to the public administration of the new premises in the Convent of St. Augustine's Seminary, in 1875 Jacobilli was reunited with the Library
Biblioteca Comunale. Over the years, it is also enriched, absorbing in 1762 the bottom of the prior Turks, in 1864 the donation of the Bishop Belletti, buying in 1890 Tommasini and inheriting in the Library 1892 the Library of the Archpriest Mancini.
Today it is located in Piazza San Giacomo n. 1, opposite the Church of St. James.
Wanted by the public utility Jacobilli, it still continues its mission of service to the cultural promotion of the territory, through the provision of all a rich heritage that includes the bottom of the approximately 600 manuscripts, single source for the history of the '600 Umbrian, over 70.000 volumes, affecting, mainly, the theological disciplines and humanities, 7.400 brochures, 102 incunabula, 1.500 sixteenth, 1.900 seicentine, 76 current periodicals and about 300 ceased.

Disabled people arriving by car can park in front of the Church of St. James, the square of the same name, where there is a reserved parking, about 20/30 m from the library. The entrance of the library has a double door with a passage that has a clear opening per leaf cm 63. The spaces are open to the public library's ground floor (hosting the conference room, filing room, a deposit, due emeroteche, one reserved for periodicals ceased and one for all the time) and first floor (which houses the offices, Large room Collections, the reading room and audio room) . Leads to the first floor via a lift: the door has a clear opening of cm 80 and the cabin has a depth of cm 140. The library rooms are all accessible, except the audio room which has three steps at the entrance, overcome with a long wooden treadmill cm 146 with slope greater than 20% . On each floor of the library is a toilet reserved for disabled people.
